 Tourism Awards

Myall River Festival won the “Festivals and Events” category for the Mid North Coast region, up against Shoal Bay Jazz and Wine Festival and Baby Boomers Bash – not sure who else.  We are now automatically entered into the State Awards.  Awards Night will be in November at Star City. Fingers crossed!

 Myall River Festival

Stall bookings are arriving from some of our regular stallholders.  Plans are rolling along.  I am getting some help from Sharon Depagter and Robyn Griffiths – thank you ladies.

The production company is due to contact me on Wednesday to begin creating the Festival Ad.  They will be using some generic footage of the area taken for a Crighton’s ad and some photo’s I have of the Myall River Festival. It will be a 30 second ad in two parts –15 seconds about the Myall Coast and 15 seconds about the Myall River Festival.  It will go to air in the two weeks leading up to the Myall River Festival.

Next year I will be able to create a 15 second ad for the Wild Side Festival and run that with the generic ad in the lead up to next year’s event. I would like to raise about $3800.  Richard Old at Great Lakes Tourism has pledged $1000 towards it.

 WILD SIDE FESTIVAL

Plans are rolling along well.  A few things remain but are in hand.

I will send out a request for volunteers in the next fortnight and ask you all to consider committing a few hours to the Festival at some point over the weekend.  I especially would like members to support the GOLF on the Wild Side, WILD SIDE @ OCEANSIDE, and the RIDE on the Wild Side cycling events.

Next Meeting:  Tuesday, 2nd September 2008,  6.00pm, OceanSide.
